TEACHING: CREATE A PRAIRIE SKIT
One way to get students involved in learning about prairies is to have them develop a skit based on "The Story of the Prairie." After learning about the prairie's history, the students assume prairie characters and act out the story, showing how prairies were formed. Another fun idea is to demonstrate the importance of the prairie habitat, including how the food chain works in the prairie ecosystem. Each student can make a prop and represent a character; characters could include glaciers, sun, bison, grasses, flowers, and insects. Create a playbill to personalize the skit with the students' names.
